hi
i'm very new to cubase (le 4) and i try to perform a simple thing.
i want to record a track using microphone with an mp3 backing track.

i created a new project. if i'm adding a new audio track and configure the "StereoIn" to right (where my mic is connected) I'm able to record through the mic.
if i import my mp3 track as orgin to the project and configure the "StereoOut" as "StereoOut" i'm able to play the backing track.

how can i record both the backing track and the microphone together ?

Activate Cubase.
Import the MP3 track into a "stereo" track in cubase.
Use a mono track for your mic or anything else you want to record.
Setup your Inputs and Outputs correctly in your Mixer.
Hit Record.
Start singing.
After that start your "Mixing" procedure.
Also:
Read the "Help" manual chapter on "Recording in Cubase."

thanks for the reply.
i followed your instructions and the following happened:
i imported a mono track, configured the line in of the mic (right). when ever i hit the mic with my hand, i saw the activity indicator in cubase.
i imported a stereo track, configured the line out, still i was able to see the mic activity.
as soon as i opened the media pool, the mic activity suddenly stopped. after i imported the mp3 into the project (i tried both as orgin and cursor) there was no mic activity.

i tried to change the order of my actions and first import the stereo track and then the mono track but the results were the same.
the wierd thing is that even when i started a new project i still couldnt see any mic activity and the only way to give it back was to restart cubase.
where was i wrong ?
