|
|
Hello. When I first installed Studio4, Halion One used to automatically list Presets through the Media Bay with the full GM and Studio Sets. Since installing the recent upgrades to Studio 4.1.1 these appear to be missing through Media Bay and the only presets that appear to be available are the Studio Drum Sets. Has anyone else experienced similar and does anyone know how to get around this?

Halion One has no connection with HALion other than the name,

| Thanks. Nevertheless, the Halion One that comes with Studio 4 originally showed many presets, now it shows only the Studio Drum Sets. Any ideas? |

Reinstall?
Another thing, when looking at the preset section of HalionOne there is an icon called 'locations'. Selecting this may show that the other hsb files are not ticked.

| Thanks. Tried a re-install. No Joy. Not the end of the world though. Tend to use just for a few pads and textures. Have to stick to guitars I guess! |

Yeah hey i have this sme problem, although most of the presets I have selected 92% of the prests work but things like "Tech Multi" and few other presets can't seem to find them no matter what folders you locate. even when reverting back to the installation CD and installing the whole thing again, I even tried searching for the file on the HDD & CD doesnt exist at all ... how does that work out ??? Hey I can live without a few presets, but its annoying when you get that big grey box in your face saying Halion One can not locate such & such preset, anyone know a fix? _________________ Motherboard: Intel SH3200SHV Server board | Intel Q9450 Core2 Quad 2.66Ghz 12mb cache 1333Mhz | 4GB Kingston DDR II 800Mhz | 3 x 500GB SATA II drives separated into OS/samples/VST's |

| Yep same here, Halion One presets just disappear on some projects and all the fixes offered on these Forums (<- believe me i went through pages of them) and the tips in the Steinberg HalionOne info page do not resolve it. Right-clicking Locate Contents and directing it to the proper HSB folder does *not* work. *Very* frustrated customer here. |

I went through the same problems with HalionOne for Cubase 4 after having to reinstall the program and the patches on my vista 64 (I did not install the 64 bit versions). Cubase worked fine after the reinstall however the instruments of HalionOne were nowhere to be found. I tried numerous suggestions from the forms including un-installing and reinstalling HalionOne by itself through a link available in the forms, with no luck. Still no instruments available. Finally after reading about the MediaBay I opened it and found HalionOne under -/sound Frame/factory content/vst 3 presets/steinberg media technologies/. I right clicked the "HalionOne" folder and selected "Rescan". It appeared to scan for the contents of the subfolders and suddenly all the instruments appeared in the folders and were also available in HalionOne in Cubase 4 as well.
I thought this might help someone out there having the same problem. |

Yeah, I'm using Cubase LE4 on Windows XP here, and just the other day my sister was asking me why when we went to select instruments, there weren't any there. It's a little strange, because if you go to the actual directory, the files are there; they just aren't showing up at all when you browse it with the Preset loader. Is there ANY solution to this problem that is known? I mean there has to be some way to fix it. Perhaps a full reinstall of LE4 with everything might do the trick...
Here are the files that are in the "HALionOne/Essential Set" directory:
All the files are .VSTPRESET files:
Brass Section
Choir Pad
Electric Bass
Electric Piano
Flute
Funk Bass
Fusion Organ
Hi Strings
Jazz Piano
Lead Synth
Low Strings
Nylon Guitar
Rock Drum Kit
Rock Piano
Spacy Pad
String Pad
Upright Bass
Are these the only files that should be there? I think the key to solving this completely terrible disaster of a problem is to compare versions that are working and versions that aren't working to see exactly what's amiss. Unfortunately, I'm on the not working end =(... |

This is getting pretty off-topic, but isn't it weird how difficult Steinberg has made such a basic thing as getting sound content delivered to people in a way that just works. All forums here have several questions on things like how do I download these new sounds, why don't they show up, where is everything, what are all these files and directories, etc. And then unfriendly comments from other people saying you should read the fine manual, redownload everything, switch to another browser, delete and reinstall everything, or just stop trying because you are obviously a computer illiterate or something. I'm a huge Cubase advocate and a computer nerd, and even I find all these different file formats and extensions, vstpresets, VSTBlahBlahTechnologyNames and FrameBayMediaThingies quite confusing. There's something wrong somewhere. Steinberg use _installers_ which are computer programs that are able to do practically ANYTHING on the user's computer, and Steinberg are also supposed to actually know all these technical details of their own products, so how is it possible that they can't make an installer that sets everything up properly without requiring the user to study manuals and readmes and howtos and forums. |

| I was thinking that same thing. This is something that should never happen, as the user should not have to go digging around with all this technical stuff. This is something my sister and I have been using all the time, and without it, we can't do much. But I find comfort knowing that something HAS been changed, meaning this problem IS fixable. It can't not be. I myself am a programmer. Though not a professional one, debugging is a third of my day. I know if I helped develop this program, I could get cracking on debugging. Or even a just a temporary solution. This is terrible. And what makes it terrible is that we spent lots of money on Cubase. It shouldn't be so much to ask that it FUNCTIONS. |

I, too, have spent HOURS screwing around with this stupid program. After removing and reloading BOTH the HalionOne program AND the Cubase 4, the best I EVER got was that the instruments showed up in HalionOne, twice. I clicked on one voice, to hear it, went to switch to another... and they were gone! Closed the Cubase and opened it, again... got the exact same thing... one time and gone. Now, I can't even get that!
This is quite a disappointment... and, does everyone else get that stupid REGISTER request, each and every time you open Cubase?? AND, it doesn't remember anything. I have to switch the drivers to my Presonus firebox, EVERY SINGLE TIME I open the program... I can't get the editors to open... I follow what's in the book, BUT, I can't quite get the same thing on my screen as the pictures in the book... and the direction on how to get to some things is pretty bad.
I've had the software for 2 weeks, and, it really feels unfinished and imcomplete... the one thing I have recorded, though, does sound really good... It's just too much work, to get what I was able to get with my Korg 12 track HD in a day, and now, it's rebuild the city each and every time... I agree with Seniuse... for what we've paid, a working software program isn't too much to ask...

| For some reason, the presets just showed up again. I don't understand why, but they did. I'll look for clues as to what made it work again... |

I've been having this problem as well. I just fixed it by copying (maybe it would be fine moving the files instead of copying them, I'm not sure) to a separate drive, so it's closer to the root level. My guess is that maybe the file path was too long. Maybe some of you have that problem too, that maybe your user name makes the file path too long?
My entire "HALionOne SoundBanks" folder is now on my D drive, so the file path is D:/HALionOne SoundBanks/
When HalionOne is open, I just right clicked on it and selected "Locate Contents" and then browsed to the HALionOne SoundBanks folder in the location I moved it to. This seemed to work for me! Hope it helps someone else too. _________________ WinXP Pro SP3, Intel Quad Core 2.4ghz (Q6600), 2 gig DDR2,

messy crappy coding!
I cannot access HO sounds from an instance of HO in the VSTi rack, i CAN however, access sounds from the media browser and if i create an instance as an instrument track.
It seems to be something to do with how HO handles the browser. I have tried reinstalling several times, relocating and rescanning all locations required, right clicked on the HO interface and located the contents that way but still it will not work properly in the VSTi rack, it will however, find any sounds i have customised and saved........ weird! _________________ C5.5 32/64Bit, RME HDSPe Mulitface II, i7 920 @ 2.67GHz, 6GB Corsair 1600 Ram, BFD2 (BOMB, JnF, Deluxe, JEX & Oak packs), Korg Trinity plus, JV1080 + Piano & Ethnic boards, Korg Wavestation SR, Novation A Station, Pod X3 Pro, Yamaha E1010 Analogue delay (Dub city! ), Warwick, Spector, Ashbory & Peavey Basses........... The stupid thing about the HALion1 software sound sets is that it's a freebie of the full version of HALion.
So you would think that Steinberg would have written the code for HAL1 in an effort to sell you on how great of a synth it is and how well it loaded effortlessly and worked so seamlessly with Cubase.
But it's just the opposite....it's a f$%king pain in the ass and for what a LE version of a program they would like you to buy the full version of, hence the failure of HALion product in general.....after my nightmare problems with it and a friend with the same problem in Studio 4, I just said to him....look who gives a f^%k, forget it who cares....let's just make some music for christ sake and use something else! Why are we wasting all this time and anger on a piece of sh#@it bullsh$%t software that has nothing to do with what we want to do musically anyway and besides it's just f&*king free crap!
But then you see this with every f%^king piece of software you buy these days....it's like garbage you paid the money we spend on it and we sit there and take it and take it instead of buying something that just works...which I doubt even exists...it's really unbelievable that we continue to post issues on forums and the hacks (who are the real geniuses here) figure out whats wrong for us and patch things together so we can go and do what we paid the money to do!
Isn't this just f*&king stupid?
Does anybody else here had it with this software crap?

| Hello, I had similar problems after updating LE4 to the 4.1.3 version. I use XP sp2. After I located the "VST2" folder in windows, the problem seems to be resolved. I just opened the path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2" in windows (without Cubase even running) and the next time I started Cubase, everything seemed to be working fine again. I hope this helps. |
